About

The Winter Kindergarten of Theoretical Physics is back. This winter, you will once again have a chance to take part in the event, organized since 1966 by Wrocław students. It will be held in Karpacz, a charming town in the Giant Mountains. WKoTP is an international physics students’ conference.  Over a week of science talks, poster sessions, and guest lectures, you will gain indescribable amounts of knowledge. But not to worry, we shan't let the beautiful Polish winter be wasted on lounging in a conference room all day. We have plans to make this event the most memorable one in your life.

Science

Traditionally, the Kindergarten is organized alongside a major scientific conference, the Winter School of Theoretical Physics. With over 50 years of history, the Winter School gathers the best physicists in their fields, from all around the world. The conference always has a theme that our Kindergarten tries to mirror. This year, the focus is on superfluidity and transport for multimessenger physics of compact stars.

Unlike the Winter School, Kindergarten has no strict rules regarding presented topics. As long as you are willing to share your knowledge and passion for science with a wider audience, you are welcome.

In order to meet your scientific needs, the conference is going to be focused on short speech sessions (25 min each + 5 min for questions). Additionally, poster presentation session will also be held.

While we firmly believe that all work produced by our fellow students will be of great value, even the greatest short speech or poster cannot compare to a full-fledged lecture from someone with an actual doctoral or professorial degree. That's why Winter Kindergarten would not be complete without guest lectures by participants of the Winter School. We will announce details about our speakers and their chosen topics in the near future, so stay tuned to this website and to our Facebook page.

Fun

Tired of physics? We have you covered. The Winter Kindergarten of Theoretical Physics will include a variety of non-scientific activities. No matter whether you like skiing, mountain trekking or partying, your time will be well-spent. Conference participants will also have ample opportunity to explore the town of Karpacz and the surrounding area. Would you like to know more about tourist attractions in Karpacz?
