Lądek Zdrój

Lądek Zdrój [ˈlɔndɛk ˈzdrui̯] (German: Bad Landeck) is one of the oldest health resorts in Europe, situated in the eastern part of the Kłodzka Land, close to the Czech border. It lies in the Sudetes mountains approximately 20 kilometers south-east of Klodzko, and 88 km south of the regional capital Wroclaw.

The town is divided into two parts: the urban part playing the service-commercial role and the spa part with medical institutes, sanatoriums, holiday homes, boarding-houses, and hotels. Archeological investigations proved that as early as in the 13th century the curative properties of local waters were used and the complex tests of the waters were carried out in the 15th century. Scientific analyses confirming the curative properties of the waters in Ladek contributed to the fast development of the health resort. Crowds of guests, including so known and famous people as J. V. Goethe, King Frederick II, King Frederick William III, Russian Tsar Alexander, have been visiting Lądek through the ages.

The most known and characteristic building of Lądek Zdrój is the Medical Institute “Wojciech” dated on 1658, rebuilt capitally two hundred years later and architecturally shaped like Turkish bathhouses. Lądek, thanks to its many-centuries tradition, has a lot of historical buildings including the Gothic bridge of Saint John dated on 1565, the Parish Church sacrificed in 1697, the votive figure chiseled by M. Klahr, one of the most brilliant sculptors of the Baroque on the Kłodzka Land.

Balneary 'Wojciech' (built in 1680, then called Marienbad) is a place where you can have thermal baths in spring water and drink spring water. You can also have variety of types of massage. Details are available in German and Polish at http://www.uzdrowisko-ladek.pl. Distance to the 'Wojciech' balneary from the hotel is ca. 800 m.

Skiing

There are two lifts on the slope. The first lift is 400 m long with elevation difference of 70 m. The second lift, 600 m long, is lightend and its elevation difference is 120 m. Half-day lift ticket costs 25 PLN (ca. 6 EUR). Price of daily ticket is 30 PLN (ca. 7.5 EUR). This slope is not that crowded what differs it from Czarna Gora.
