The 58th edition of the Karpacz Winter School of Theoretical Physics is jointly organised by the Incubator of Scientific Excellence – Centre for Simulations of Superdense Fluids (CSSF) and the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the University of Wroclaw. The school/workshop serves also as the Incubator's kickoff meeting. The meeting is organised in hybrid format with up to 30 participants on site and unlimited number of online participants.

Subjects

The evolution of the system formed in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collision, including

  • its formation
  • its evolution
  • final observables and what they can tell about the properties of the system

In the spirit of the method approved to achieve the Incubator's mission, the school's subject is the evolution of the system formed in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collision, and the various theoretical and phenomenological tools used to describe its different stages. These tools and methods range from quantum field theory to statistical data analysis via fluid dynamics and kinetic theory, to name a few, and are at the current frontier of this interdisciplinary field. The school will support the participating Ph.D. students to carry out their research, strengthen their knowledge and background as well as initiate and strengthen the contact with the lecturers as the world leading experts in their respected field of research. In short, the goal of this Winter School is to educate the next generation of young scientists in the field of heavy-ion physics and related topics.

Important

Selected funding is available. The selection of the candidates will be done in two steps:

  1. Registration on this site, providing data on affiliation and a letter of recommendation from the Ph.D. advisor or equivalent senior scientist.
  2. After selection by the organising committee, the proposed candidates will be informed.

NOTE: It is requested from the approved candidates to participate the entire period of the training school, otherwise support will be cancelled. We also wish the participants to give a short (10+5min) talk of their own research.

Health Protection

We are planning for a hybrid meeting. At the moment, we can admit up to 30 participants in person. This number may vary, depending on the preceding pandemics situation and the associated governmental rules.

In any case, the top priority is to protect the health of our participants and the Artus Hotel staff and to avoid infections, especially with COVID-19. For this purpose, a comprehensive and detailed hygiene concept was developed and approved by the responsible authority. Our specially trained, experienced team is at your side with competence and commitment to effectively implement the health and hygiene measures at the 58. Karpacz Winter School. The most important cornerstones are:

  • Keeping the distance: minimum distance of 1.50 m from person to person
  • Compliance with the hygiene rules
  • Contact person traceability

At the moment, we can admit up to 30 participants in person. This number may vary, depending on the preceding pandemics situation and the associated governmental rules. If there are more registerations for on-site participation than we can admit, we select a representative group, and invite others to follow the school/workshop online. We will notify the participants in mid-May.
