The focus of this workshop is to bring together the world-leading experts in the field of computational stellar astrophysics with special emphasis on neutrino radiation magneto-hydrodynamics simulations of core-collapse supernovae. The latter involves aspects of numerical relativity, neutrino radiative transfer as well as associated weak processes, and the equation of state of hot and dense matter under extreme conditions. Possible predictions of supernova observables, these are gravitational waves and neutrinos, requires state of the art combined modelling of all the aforementioned phenomena, which makes the supernova problem–the explosion mechanism of massive stars–one of the most demanding computational physics problems of our time. This workshops aims at defining the next milestones in the field.

The event is organised at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Wroclaw, Poland.

Topics

  • 3-dimensional MHD core-collapse supernova modelling

  • microphysics improvements, equation of state and weak rates

  • role of axions

  • gravitational wave and neutrino emission

HEALTH PROTECTION

The top priority is to protect the health of all participants as well as all Institute of Theoretical physics stuff, and to avoid infections, especially with the viruses COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2. For this purpose, a comprehensive and detailed hygiene concept was developed and approved by the responsible authority. Our specially trained, experienced team is at your side with competence and commitment to effectively implement the health and hygiene measures at this workshop. The most important cornerstones are:

  • Keeping the distance: minimum distance of 1.50 m from person to person
  • Compliance with the hygiene rules
  • Contact person traceability

A participation fee of 75 EUR will become due, to be payed at the registration or the beginning of the workshop. It covers local expenses including coffee breaks, lunches and the social dinner.
